Why do you need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme?
EU regulations for Freedom of Movement no longer apply to the UK, so the UK Government has made it compulsory for EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens, along with their family members, who wish to remain legally in the UK after 30 June 2021, to apply for a new residence status by this date.
This is called the EU Settlement Scheme and it grants Settled Status which is Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), or pre-Settled Status which is Limited Leave to Remain (LTR) to successful applicants.
