Amnesty International Festival of Justice - video from Citizens Advice South Lincolnshire
Please have a look at our video about the work we do at Citizens Advice South Lincolnshire
Citizens Advice speaks to many clients both face to face and on the phone. This means that we can often help individuals improve their situation. It also means that we are in a very good position to have a positive influence on the policies and practices that affect people's lives more generally. We are independent and impartial so policymakers listen to us.
The Research and Campaigns Team at your local Citizens Advice collects evidence of clients' problems and uses this in the form of anonymous case studies to campaign for changes in national and local policies and services. We have a key role in speaking up for clients, raising issues brought to our attention, contributing to public debate and informing legislation.
In 2020, Citizens Advice South Lincolnshire will again be taking part in the national campaigns: Scams Awareness, Big Energy Savings Week and National Consumer Week. We want to make as much contact with the public as we can through surveys and meetings. In these ways we can raise public awareness of what to look for in unethical practice, help people save money where possible, raise general understanding of legal rights and help strengthen legislation against sharp practice.
We will also continue to contribute to the other local issues our clients raise with us. Last year we talked to relevant local providers such as banks, letting agents and medical professionals - and this year, already, we are working with education in the area.
